WELCOME MESSAGE
Dr. Thamasak Yeemin

In December 2013, the Asian Marine Biology Symposium in Phuket, Thailand, began promoting the exchange of information on the current achievements in biological research of marine and coastal areas in Asian countries.

Owing to the significant efforts and collaboration of researchers from various countries, this symposium has been held regularly (the second in Jeju, Korea, in October 2014, the third in Kumamoto, Japan, in November 2017 and the fourth symposium in Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), in November 2019). I deeply appreciated all the efforts in preparation and management for the symposia by the members of the local committees and the staff who made the symposia successful, especially Professor Hiroaki Tsutsumi.

One of the most important aspects of our meetings is the opportunity to meet regularly, allowing us to engage in meaningful discussions and share insights on the most current issues in our respective areas of research. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the fifth Asian Marine Biology Symposium on October 27–31, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. This symposium provides a unique platform for learning from individuals with diverse perspectives, knowledge, experiences, and techniques. Such interactions are invaluable for advancing our understanding and fostering collaboration across the various domains of marine, coastal and biology in Asian countries.

As we are now facing several challenges such as climate change, marine pollution, and the degradation of unprotected coastal areas, the importance of our collective efforts cannot be overstated. I am confident that this symposium will not only enrich our scientific knowledge but also pave the way for collaborative solutions to these pressing issues.

I sincerely hope that all participants will find this symposium enriching and will take full advantage of the opportunity to gain the latest information on a wide range of studies related to our field.

Thank you for your participation and contributions. I look forward to the engaging discussions and valuable exchanges that will undoubtedly emerge during our time together.

Warm regards,
